Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- A new school year began in several countries of the Middle East in September.

Children in many countries and regions across the world were greatly excited to enjoy their first school day or new school year amid their parents' blessings but such joyful occasion was impossible in Gaza Strip, where a heartrending situation prevails.

According to a UNICEF's recent report, the future of children in Gaza has plunged into crisis as a new school year began in Gaza Strip but some 620 000 children are unable to return to their schools and the number of school-age children impossible to enroll is at least 45 000.

Actually, the educational sector in Gaza Strip has almost reduced to ruins

More than 80 percent of schools have been severely destroyed and the remaining school buildings are swarming with evacuees.

So children lost their dreams for the future, being deprived of their right to learn.

Worse still, Zionists are bombarding the remaining schools almost every day under the pretext of "annihilating Hamas."

Calling for "starving people in Gaza Strip to death", the Israeli troops occupying the region are indulging in massacre and vandalism. Children in the region have opted for the campaign for existence, instead of going to school.

A boy standing in a queue for long-awaited food assistance to support his family in Gaza City sadly recollected his school days last year when he sang national anthem and played sports with his classmates.

A 14-year-old girl of Rafah City who lost her all family members due to an Israeli air raid recalled that her mother had combed her hair and prepared sandwich for her on the new school year opening day every year. She cried in agony, saying she was left alone after losing her mum, dad and brothers.

A woman in Khan Younis City voiced lamentation, saying her daughter lost her right to go to school and she lost her dream of putting school uniform on her child and bringing her to school.

Such dreadful situation in Gaza Strip teaches that weakness brings bloodshed and tears only and even deprives the children of their dreams and future. -0-
