Pyongyang, December 19 (KCNA) -- DPRK weightlifters proved successful at the 2024 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships.

At the championships, they won 26 gold medals, more than 40 percent of the total gold medals.

These figures mean that DPRK players took more gold medals than the total number of gold medals of China (14), Kazakhstan (3), Uzbekistan (3), Bulgaria (3) and Armenia (2), and that the DPRK has risen to the top in the weightlifting world rankings.

DPRK players set new world records in men's 67kg clean and jerk (190 kg), women's 59kg clean and jerk (141 kg) and total (249 kg), women's 64kg clean and jerk (149 kg) and total (264 kg) respectively, winning admiration of many sports experts and fans. -0-
