DPRK Children Prove Successful at Int'l Festival

Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- Kindergarteners and schoolchildren of the DPRK created a great stir again at the 33rd international festival of child and juvenile art works recently held in Khabarovsk of Russia.

At the festival attended by more than 1 000 children from Russia, China, Mongolia and other countries, music prodigies of the Kyongsang Kindergarten fully showed their talents.

In the music contest, Pak Ye Un of the DPRK won the top prize by playing piano solo with high artistic skill.

Ri Ta Jong, who put on the stage sohaegum (Korean folk instrument) solo "Merry Dancing Music", won the first prize in the field of national musical instruments by sustaining the soft tone and peculiar playing technique.

Ho Ye Ryong and Pak Cha Jin took the second and third places in the piano event of the 7-10 year-old group, and Ri Ye Gwon and Pak Sin Yong won a highly appreciation by playing national musical instruments well.

Meanwhile, in the fine art contest, Han Ho Song, Kim Yu Gyong and Kim Won Bin, fine art group members of the Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Palace and the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace in the DPRK, presented works depicting the beautiful appearance of the country with diverse techniques and unique designs to give deep impressions to the audience.

The sponsor of the festival expressed admiration for the distinguished artistic skills of Korean children, saying that the talents of the well-educated Korean children were unanimously recognized by the participants in the festival.

The members of the festival jury and the audience expressed thanks to the Korean children for their participation in the festival, saying that they were pleased to have the opportunity to see the distinguished talents of DPRK children. -0-
