Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The 2024 conference of representatives of branches of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) took place at the Korean Hall of Culture in Tokyo on November 10.

Present there were Ho Jong Man, chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, Pak Ku Ho, first vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee and concurrently director of its Organization Department, vice-chairpersons, officials of central organizations of Chongryon and its affiliates, headquarters and branches and chiefs of branches of Chongryon and the Union of Democratic Korean Women in Japan and other delegates.

Ho Jong Man said in his address that the conference of representatives of Chongryon branches, which has a history and tradition of 63 years since the first conference of activists of Chongryon branches held in 1961, is a proud one unprecedented in the world history of the movement of overseas compatriots and a meeting of loyalty and patriotism demonstrating to the whole world Chongryon officials' patriotism, compatriotism and love for the younger generation.

He said that the conference should be an important occasion for ushering in a new era of prosperity of Chongryon as desired and intended by the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un.

Pak Ku Ho in a report said that all branches have consistently held fast to the four major tasks for strengthening the branches set forth by the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un for the past four years since the 2020 conference of representatives of Chongryon branches and conducted the movement for creating patriotic models in the new heyday without interruption, thus making successes in sprucing up the appearance of the branches.

The next year marks the 70th anniversary of the formation of Chongryon, which is associated with the ideas on the Juche-oriented movement of overseas compatriots, outstanding leadership and noble history of compatriotism of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, the reporter said, calling for successfully greeting the anniversary with the high spirit and innovative successes of Chongryon organizations and compatriots united with loyalty and patriotism.

Commendations were awarded to the branches, which have made successes in the movement for creating patriotic models in the new heyday in the past four years, at the conference.
