Iron and Steel Production Increased in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- Workers of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex in the DPRK are making steady innovations in the production of pig iron and rolled steel after having fulfilled their February production plan.

The complex intensifies the organization, command, control and review of production so that process-by-process engagement is properly ensured by dint of science and technology, while organizing technical emulation among workshops and workteams.

Amid the growing enthusiasm of workers and technicians, the complex has built a comprehensive analytical network, optimized the charge of raw materials at oxygen blast furnace and introduced other valuable technical innovation proposals.

Its calciner workshop provided a guarantee for improving the quality and productivity of iron and steel while saving manpower, power and fuel.

The furnacemen at the steel workshop increased productivity by applying a mixed steelmaking method combining oxygen converter with electric furnace.

The oxygen separator workshops, gas producer workshop and blast furnace workshop are strengthening the inter-process link and introducing efficient working methods to produce large quantities of oxygen, gas and pig iron every day and contribute to carrying out the plan. -0-
