Kim Tok Hun Inspects Agricultural Field in North Hwanghae Province of DPRK

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, inspected the agricultural field in North Hwanghae Province.

Going round Hwangju, Yonthan, Sohung and Singye counties and other areas of the province, he met officials and working people in the agricultural field who are directing all efforts to farming with a single mind to uphold the decision of the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee with increased grain production, and learned in detail about farming.

He called for properly setting the harvest time in each region in consideration of the ripening rate and weather conditions in conformity with the harvest period of the earlier crops such as wheat and barley and for concentrating manpower and means on timely harvesting without any waste and drying and storing grain well.

He also called for making a good knowledge of growth situation according to their species and paddy rice fields, putting the cultivation including irrigation and fertilization of nutrient solution on a scientific and technological basis and positively introducing advanced farming methods and techniques capable of increasing a high and stable yield under the influence of the disastrous abnormal weather.

He called on the agricultural guidance organs to work out a detailed plan for increasing the production of wheat and barley for next year on the basis of successes, experience and lessons in this year's farming of early crops and properly carry it out from now on and, in particular, to properly introduce high-yielding species.

He stressed the importance of pushing ahead with the stepwise and planned work to raise the proportion of mechanization in keeping with the increase of crop production areas in the agricultural sector and of raising the enthusiasm of agricultural workers for production and improving the management in a methodological way by taking into account the actual conditions in the relevant areas and units. -0-
