Project for Putting Metallurgical Industry on Juche Basis Propelled in DPRK

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- The metallurgical industry of the DPRK makes steady successes in consolidating the foundation for Juche-based iron production.

The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex took practical measures to lower the standard of anthracite and oxygen consumption per unit and rationally remodeled the ladle heating device to raise the heating temperature three times.

It further refined the Juche-based iron production system by developing a new method of conducting tapping and refining simultaneously.

The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex built a new Korean-style energy-saving oxygen heat blast furnace and developed a highly efficient desulfurizing agent to raise the yield of continuous ingot.

Similar successes have been made at the Chollima Steel Complex, the Musan Mining Complex, the Chongjin Steel Plant and the Hungnam Electrode Factory. -0-
