Pyongyang, July 13 (KCNA) -- South Hwanghae Province in the DPRK is increasing the cultivation area of Ongjin reed.

The province cultivates Ongjin reed in tens of hectares of fields in Kangryong County and Haeju City.

It directs efforts to increasing the per-hectare yield by manuring and cultivating well the new breed of Ongjin reed of which superiority was proved.

Scientists and researchers are taking scientific and technological measures to increase the reed output while observing the growth state of Ongjin reed on the spot.

The working people, too, are conducting the reed cultivation in conformity with scientific and technological requirements.

The province is also pushing ahead with preparations for further increasing the cultivation area of Ongjin reed next year. -0-
