National Symposium Held to Mark 80th Anniversary of Korea's Liberation

Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- A national symposium was held at the People's Palace of Culture here on August 7 to mark the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Present there were Choe Tong Myong, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ju Chang Il, department director of the WPK Central Committee, officials of the Party and administrative organs and working people's organizations in Pyongyang, and information workers in charge of theory from the armed forces organs, the fields of science, education, literature and arts, media, and preservation of revolutionary relics and Party cadre training institutions.

Kang Yun Sok, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, Thae Hyong Chol, president of the Academy of Social Sciences, Kim Song Chan, president and editor-in-chief of the Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House, and Jon Sung Guk, vice-premier of the Cabinet, presented the papers explaining the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung who created the ever-victorious tradition of the Korean revolution and laid a foundation for building a thriving nation by organizing and leading the Korean people's sacred war for national liberation to a brilliant victory.

The speakers said that Kim Il Sung is the peerless patriot who provided a powerful Juche-oriented force of the revolution and thus brought about the first liberation day of our country.

They explained that national liberation is a great political event which brought about a fundamental turn in the destiny of the Korean people and opened a new history of building a thriving nation.

They said that the noble soul of the revolutionaries of the first generation who pioneered the history of eternal resistance is a mental heritage to be carried forward forever.

They underscored the need to steadily write the heroic biography of the great power of Kim Jong Un by carrying forward the ever-victorious history and tradition of the Juche revolution.

They called upon all the officials and working people to make uninterrupted innovations and successive leaps forward by carrying forward the fighting spirit and patriotic tradition of the anti-Japanese forerunners and thus turn this significant year into a year of fresh change full of meaningful successes. -0-
