Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- According to Rodong Sinmun, the State Commission of Science and Technology of the DPRK strives to set a correct goal for the qualitative development in the field of science and technology and work out a scientific and realistic plan for attaining it.

The commission is stepping up the work to draw up a plan of this year for the development of science and technology while selecting the major national projects for sci-tech development with the main emphasis on solving the problems urgently needed for the economic development and the improvement of people's standard of living.

Discussion is focused on the issues arising in realizing the home production of equipment needed for regional-industry factories, putting the designing of production lines on a scientific basis and placing the treatment environment of city and county hospitals on a high level.

Also, such work is discussed as to subdivide the criteria for selecting talents according to each economic sector and qualification grade and establish evaluation and management methods so that all the institutions and enterprises can mobilize their own sci-tech talents to the full in conformity with their abilities.

Meanwhile, efforts are directed to properly setting the deliberation items and standards for scientific and technological problems and perfecting a system of scientific and technological examination.

The project is being accelerated in contact with relevant units to further improve the dissemination of science and technology and raise the level of unmanned database building process. -0-
