Founding Anniversary of Ponghwa Chemical Factory Marked

Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- The Ponghwa Chemical Factory in the DPRK marked its 50th founding anniversary.

On March 24, 1975, President Kim Il Sung personally chose the site for the factory on the spot and clearly indicated the way ahead of it while acquainting himself with the issue of housing construction for its employees.

Chairman Kim Jong Il took measures to finish the construction at an early date and named the factory the Ponghwa Chemical Factory and meticulously took care of the working and living conditions of its employees.

Thanks to the energetic leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the factory is adding luster to its honor as a unit associated with the leadership exploits in a drive for implementing the decisions of the plenary meetings of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Over the past 50 years, officials, workers and technicians of the factory have dynamically conducted a mass technological innovation movement to expand the variety of products and raise their quality, giving priority to the modernization of production lines, and thus fulfilled its national economic plan.

A meeting took place on March 23 to mark its founding anniversary.

Present there were Pak Jong Gun, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the State Planning Commission, Kim Chol Ha, minister of Chemical Industry, Kim Chol U, secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and officials and employees of the factory.
