Measures Taken to Minimize Damage by Disastrous Abnormal Weather

Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- Various economic sectors of the DPRK have taken measures for minimizing damage by disastrous abnormal weather.

The electric power industrial sector has conducted the work to protect hydraulic structures and taken measures to keep transformers, breakers, transformer substations and steel towers from a thunderbolt.

The railway transport sector has launched the work to minimize the damage by heavy rain and much rain and ensure transport of major freights and safe run of passenger trains. It has made preparations to carry emergency relief teams and materials. Railway bureaus and branch bureaus are ready to use emergency vehicles.

The mining industrial sector is taking measures to mobilize manpower and vehicles in case of emergency while reinforcing embankments of tailing settling basins and increasing observation posts and personnel. It checked and repaired reserve pumps to ensure their full operation. -0-
