Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- A joint friendship gathering took place at the Taesongsan Pleasure Park on June 1 to mark the 76th anniversary of International Children's Day.
Attending it were officials concerned, senior officials of the Party and power organs in Pyongyang Municipality, officials of the women's union, teachers and parents, children of the Pyongyang Baby Home and the Pyongyang Orphanage and kindergarteners in the municipality.
Present were envoys and members of diplomatic missions here and members of a delegation of Korean schoolchildren in Japan on a visit to the socialist homeland to take part in the celebrations of the 80th founding anniversary of the Korean Children's Union and overseas compatriots staying in the homeland.
Jon Hyang Sun, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the women's union, made a speech at the gathering. She warmly congratulated the children across the country and foreign children from different countries on International Children's Day.
A congratulatory performance of students of Kumsong Secondary School No. 1 and artistes of the National Acrobatic Troupe added joy and pleasure to the participants.
Amid the playing of juvenile songs, children displayed beautiful dances and sang songs reflecting their happy life.
Then, followed folk play and sports and amusement games. The games, in which little players competed with each other in wisdom and strength, and a game, in which their mothers took part, added to the pleasure and optimism of the participants.
Children and participants played a cheerful circle dance, decorating the end of the gathering. -0-
