Mass Movement Launched by Trade Union Organizations in Kangwon Province

Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- Trade union organizations in Kangwon Province of the DPRK are actively conducting a mass movement conducive to the development of the regional economy and the improvement of the people's standard of living.

Officials of the provincial trade union committee and itinerant lecturers of the trade union organizations at provincial-level units encouraged the working people to a campaign for increased production and economy while conducting motivation activities at the Chonnae Area Coal-mining Complex, the Munchon Valve Factory and other units.

Trade union organizations at the Wonsan Leather Shoes Factory and the Wonsan School Uniform Factory are encouraging their members to make progress in raising the quality of products and increasing the production by improving the effectiveness of ideological work to make them contribute to the development of the unit.

Trade union officials at the Wonsan Schoolchildren's Footwear Factory, the Songdowon General Foodstuff Factory and the Wonsan Disabled Soldiers' Essential Plastic Goods Factory are making progress in training their members into highly skilled workers and all-round machinists.

100-odd farm machine repair support teams, dispatched by trade union organizations in the province, have made the round of farms to overhaul tractors, rice-transplanting machines, water pumps and motors.

Trade union members of the provincial-level units sent many farm machines to the farms.

The trade union organizations in Cholwon, Chonnae, Anbyon and Phyonggang counties boosted the enthusiasm of agricultural workers for rich harvest by providing them with tractor spare parts, vinyl sheets for farming and knapsack sprayers. -0-
